Jason Singh and friends explore the Dark Dark Wood

Second of our gigs in The Dark Dark Wood sees the fabulous maverick Jason Singh and very special friends  take to the Unity woodland stage on Tuesday 13 December. Tickets available here at just £5.

The stunning line up sees Jason on voice and electronics joined by Jazz Instrumentalist of the Year 2014 Arun Ghosh on Clarinet and Harmonium and Pete Turner on Double Bass and Synth. And just to finish off the woodland mix Fabric Lenny will be providing live animation throughout the night.

The gig promises a whole manner of vocal weirdness inspired by forests, magic, Christmas, night time and all kinds of strange mythical features….like a Christmas nightmare come true!

Jason has also contributed a track to COSMOS, currently installed in Unity Lounge. COSMOS is the brain child of kinicho. It’s a 20 speaker 3rd order Ambisonics dodecahedron array which is popping up alongside Dark Dark Wood, and each of our composers together with Kinicho have contributed a track to the system.

You can read more about the gig in Jason’s own blog here. And just to whet your appetite here’s some video links…and don’t forget book tickets here.

And as birds and bird song play such an important part in Little Red and the Big Bad Wolf  which Dark Dark Wood complements here’s an extra bonus video of Jason showing you how to sound like a bird!

The Dark Dark Wood environment is designed by Katie Scott in collaboration with Unity’s Splatts artists. The gigs, new work and project have been generously supported by PRS For Music Foundation.
