A reimagined The Overcoat

Edinburgh diaries 7th August

Curiously the trailer is not the show I saw, but it does give a flavour of the world that Brush Theatre inhabit, a world where digital and analogue collide, where live performer seamlessly merge with their digital counterparts. At its heart Brush Theatre’s The Overcoat is about a father and a daughter, and what the daughter gets upto when dad is away at work. There’s lots of lovely moments, especially in the interplay between the two performers, the screen and the live musician. I’ve never seen rope, thread and wool used so inventively! But it feels long and lacks narrative drive, but I did come away wanting to see more of this companies work.
