The Hairy Biker – Day 4 – Tuesday 25th June

Tuesday 25th June

To find out more about The Hairy Biker ride in which I’ll cover (hopefully) just over 400 miles visiting the location of over 40 Eastern Angles plays and over 30 regular venues in an attempt to raise £2000 for the company see here. You can sponsor me here

Day 4 begins at Manningtree Station – but the direction of travel is away from Private Resistance. First stop is Stutton site (arguably) of both Reapers Year and it’s 1996 sequel Days of Plenty . From Stutton – and to complete the trilogy – it’s onto Harkstead notional setting for Bone Harvest .

Thereafter the day takes up a more nautical flavour as I head out towards Pinmill (setting of course for Pirates of Pinmill and a key location in We Didn’t Mean to Go to Sea).

From Pinmill we’re currently looking at options. I’ll either be cycling into Ipswich or taking a boat across to Nacton!

Nacton is of course a key location for Margaret Catchpole

whilst Ipswich has been a base for a whole host of shows including Round the Twist, Time Lords and Ghost of the Old Rep . The day ends with a ride out on Sustrans route 1 to Woodbridge where I plan to collapse in a corner.

As ever on day 4 I’m on the hunt for people to chat to on route:

– fans of any of the shows we ‘pass through’
– regular attenders of EA
– the best pub in Woodbridge for post ride thirst quenching
– a boat – to help transport me from Pinmill (or more likely Wolverstone) to Nacton

Estimated timings

Manningtree 0930
Stutton 1000
Harkstead 1100
Pinmill 1215
Nacton 1430
Ipswich 1530
Woodbridge 1830
