To find out more about The Hairy Biker ride in which I’ll cover (hopefully) just over 400 miles visiting the locations of over 40 Eastern Angles plays and over 30 regular venues in an attempt to raise £2000 for the company see here.
Day 1 of the ride takes me from High Beach (around 1430) via Chelmsford (1700), onto Maldon (1830) and finishing at Hatfield Perverall for the train home.
High Beach is of course where John Clare (The Long Life and Great Good Fortune of John CLare) spent four years of his life, under the care of Dr Matthew Allen.
The ride will also briefly touch on some of the areas where the story behind The Peculiar People – Eastern Angles 1992 show – occurred. Though not unfortunately Rochford where one time drunk John Banyard founded his first church. In terms of venues I’ll also be passing through Chelmsford (Cramphorn Theatre) and Maldon – regular hosts for Eastern Angles shows.
On Day 1 I’m on the hunt for
– someone to talk to about High Beach and Matthew Allen
– anyone on route who saw and can remember The Peculiar People. Or indeed anyone who would like to talk to me about The Peculiar People.
– regular attenders of Eastern Angles shows in Chelmsford and Witham who’d like to share what they like about the company
– a suggestion for a good pub with internet access at the end of the day in Hatfield Peverall. Real ale always a bonus!
And of course if you would like to sponsor me please visit my page here.
