The play was first developed in workshops at Beaford Arts and at Dartington prior to a first public reading at The Drill Hall, London.
Two more readings followed in September 2011 and the play goes into full production in April 2013 followed by a national tour. (For video clips from the reading see here). The Incomers is produced by Windswept Productions in association with Studio@QT at North Devon Theatres.
THE SIZZLE….
A full moon rises over a windswept cottage in the middle of nowhere.
Children are in bed, wine is breathing nicely and dinner is in the oven.
It’s Gordon and Celia’s tenth wedding anniversary. They wanted to ask their oldest and best friends Zach and Jane, down from London. The only problem is that Zach and Jane aren’t Zach and Jane anymore.
Jane has gone and Julia has taken her place. Julia is: twenty-five, French and a Burlesque performer. She is: annoyingly bright and disgustingly gorgeous.
[an extract from the rehearsed reading at the Drill Hall, London - the pole dancer]
As the wine flows and the food reaches dizzying new heights of culinary distinction. Each course seems to bring a new revelation. Until we become aware that no one seems to have been telling the truth to anyone about anything, for a very long time.
[From the reading again - Zach, cocaine and cows]

Caught in the teeth of this hideously funny black farce, we watch the characters slowly stripped of all pretensions and secrets. Savaged in the glorious downward spiral of an evening that will leave them with no option but to take a good hard look at just about everything.
Set to a fabulous soundtrack of evocative nineties sounds and spoken completely in verse The Incomers dances, laughs, sings and cries it’s way through an unforgettable night!
